Counselor Comments
The beginning of the new school year is off to a great start. I would like to take this time to remind parents about our Student Improvement Team (SIT).
The SIT team, consisting of the principal, school counselor, and teachers
follows a process to provide interventions for students to help them be
successful at school. Any student may be referred to the SIT team for either academic or behavioral assistance. The SIT team encourages parent participation. Parents are resourceful when it comes to making decisions about the various school resources needed to help their child be successful in the classroom. If
you have questions regarding the SIT process or would like your child reviewed
for academic or behavioral assistance, please feel free to contact me at
443-5165.
The K-1st grade students have been working on Whole Body Listening during their guidance lessons. They’ve discovered we don’t just listen with our ears, but with our eyes, hands, feet, brain, heart, and mouth.
The 2nd – 3rd grade
students have been discussing the Stop, Think, and Do method when trying to
solve problems whether that be BIG or small problems that occur in their
lives.
The 4th – 5th grade students have been participating in activities about Self-Discipline. We have compared it to a Football game. We discussed there are penalties in life like (impulse or temptation) that interfere with using self-discipline in certain situations.
Finally, 6th and 8th grade students are beginning lessons with Lindsay from SOS. These lessons focus on STEPs To Respect and Safe Dates.
Please contact me with any questions or concerns --- Mrs. Landgren
